Welcome to St. Mary’s by-the-Sea!
Our Vision
A community of imperfect and infinitely beloved people worshiping, learning, and working together to love God, our neighbors, and creation.
Our Mission
We proclaim that God desires abundant life for each of us, and all of us.
We support each person’s journey of faith as they become who God calls them to be, unique and essential to the welfare of the world.
We commit to working together for God’s justice and righteousness in this place and time.
We affirm the goodness of all creation and accept our call to be good stewards of all God has made.
Open and Affirming
We affirm, promote, and celebrate all people, regardless of sexual orientation, gender and its expression, religious background, marital status, family structure, age, mental and physical health and ability, racial and cultural identity or background, and educational and socioeconomic status. We are a loving community in which people are free to be themselves fully and without fear, and all feel valued and cared for.
The Episcopal Church has a legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being. Ordination and the offices of bishop, priest, and deacon are open to all without discrimination. Just days after the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that same-sex couples had the legal right to marry, General Convention voted to amend the canons of The Episcopal Church that regulate marriage, permitting any couple the rite of Holy Matrimony.
St. Mary’s is part of the Episcopal Diocese of El Camino Real.
